Creating Our Own Language

Every week, 5th and 6thgraders learn a new Latin root and study ten words that include that particular root. So far, we have studied sixteen different roots. Last week the class reviewed all the roots they have learned so far by creating their own word. Each of these words sounded like words that could be in the English language! Students had fun asking each other what they thought each word meant and speaking with their own made-up words.
