We’ve completed another art project (Celtic Knot letters) and are on to our next one: string art! This project takes a lot of patience, rigor, and math skills. Currently we are implementing scale/ratio work, division of fractions, and are relating a ruler to fractions on a number line. Students are paired up to work on the math portion of the project, but each student will be completing his or her own piece. So far we have sanded each board, piced a pattern, and have copied the pattern on a scale. Next week we will paint the board and begin nailing the brags. These will be slow-progress beauties!
Next week we are doing the first part (reading and writing) of our SBAC testing on Monday and Tuesday (4th/5th) and will complete the second part of testing (math) the following week (11th/12th). Please try to make sure your child is not absent on these days and that they have plenty of sleep and breakfast! We will be going to Yosemite next Thursday to continue our watershed studies!
