Learning perspective drawing, Science Fair, and Benchmarks

We are almost finished with our “Alice in Wonderland” unit and are beginning an ongoing art project. On Thurday, the students learned about how horizons and vanishing points affect the perspective of their drawings. With a line study, students pointed out the aspects of one-point perspective that make drawings look realistic. After some direct instruction, everyone practiced with rulers on whiteboards. They are choosing between oil pastels, water color, or colored pencils to add color to their drawings next week.

All students should be working on their science fair projects. Some partners are working on it at home and if your child is one of those students, he or she should be recording data and be ready to submit final results by  March 20th. From then on, we will work on display boards and will be ready for the fair on the 31st.

Benchmark tests are next week and we will be working on them first thing in the morning Monday-Thursday this week. image image image image
